I am a moderate.

I am not a liberal nor a democrat as people seem to assume. Neither am I conservative nor a Republican. See the thing is, I'm an atheist. So no matter how conservative I might be (which I am NOT), I wouldn't be welcome in that theocracy-oriented political party. I'm a heathen and they don't like my kind.

Here are the things I belive in or subscribe to, I'll list them as to whether they are generally considered to be right or left leaning. you can decide for yourself what you think. I
know what I am.

I am against unions and think they are at fault for the destruction of manufacturing in Michigan. (Right) I believe in universal health care for everyone (left), I oppose gun control (right), I am 100% for choice in reproductive health (left), I do not belive in any god at all and am totally 100% against organized religion (left), I love the idea of traditional stay at home mothering (right), I support the rights of gay folks to marry and have thier families how ever they see fit (left), I hate quotas in hiring and am against affirmative action (right),I believe in schools of choice (right) but I don't think my tax dollars should fund religious education (left) I firmly belive in the separation of church and state (left), I recycle and respect the enviornment(left) I drive a big truck and want to be able to drive a big truck even if it gets 12 mpg (right)I think Fox News is totally biased and insane (left) I get the majority of my news from NPR and BBC (left), I think if you want services you should expext to be taxed (left), I do not think socialism is equal to marxism or communism(left), I tend to lean slightly pro-arab versus pro-Isreal but I think they all need to drop the religious bullshit and get on with their oil rich selves (left(ish)),I think if you want welfare you are going to have to be drug screened (right), my husband and kids hunt (right), I oppose factory farming and try to buy locally as much as I can (left) I love Wal-Mart and respect their right to do business and be competitive (right), I think it sucks that everything is made over seas (left) but I totally blame the unions for that not the companies (right), I think our education budget should far out weigh our defense spending (left) but I support militaty personel and hold law enforcement folks in the highest regard (right), I adore Bill Clinton and I don't care one iota about the blue dress (left) but I also have a warm spot in my heart for Ronald Reagan (right). I think child killers should get the death penalty(right) but I'm not a fan of it otherwise (left).

I guess the thing is, I love, trust and respect PEOPLE . That's where my faith lies. I truly belive that people have an inate desire to do the right thing if you just leave them the hell alone. I don't want religion mandating law in any way shape or form and as long as that's the mantra of the Republican party, I can't be part of that. I also can't be part of any organization that works towards preventing equal rights for everyone to be married or be who they were born to be.
I think we as a country are receeding back into the dark ages rather than emerging into the light of the 21st century. Most of Europe and Canada seem to be able to live in a civilized manner and yet we are getting worse and worse here in this country.
If you think back to countries which have in the past or currently have ultra conservative governments, you will see that there is very little personal freedom, large scale suffering and poverty and a distinct reduction in quality of life. (dark age Europe, current Sharia law countries, large parts of Africa, South America etc)...
I can not abide a fear mentality and i refuse to be a part of it. So as long as that is going to be the driving force behind our political parties, I am opting out.
I am an independant thinking moderate.

Don't you have a mama? Do you really think it's okay to break into a person's vehicle and steal his things? Things he has worked his ass off since he was 15 years old! You think he is some rich guy who can just buy new stuff?! WRONG. My son never had jack shit so he got a job and worked hard every single day. He still does. He's been brave and hardworking all his life and has a few nice things now because of it. You on the other hand, I'm sure are some drug using scum bag who has no idea what you've done. You want your city to be a better place? You want jobs? THEN QUIT ACTING LIKE FUCKING ANIMALS!!!!

A few weeks ago, another nice young man was MURDERED/car jacked by another monster in the city...I guess I ought to be thankful my child is not hurt. Why can't he just go down there and do his job once in a while though without having to worry about it? I wouldn't be suprised if Rite-Aid doesn't pull thier stores from Detroit. Why bother? The insurance has to be killing them. I swear to god.
If he wasn't FORTUNATLY switching to the Lansing area soon, I'd suggest (strongly) he get a CCW.

Poor kid. He's broke right now too. Can't afford to replace his GPS or Ipod that was stolen. Not sure if Rite Aid insurance will cover his personl property. I can't replace them either since we are stretched with birthdays and school clothes.
Just makes me want to cry out of frusteration.
